It is difficult to find "cool" foods that teenagers like but mine went nuts over this..

2 tabs cornstarch - check the label
2 tab water
1/2 tsp garlic powder (fresh if you like)
1 lb steak, flank steak, skirt steak

Cut the meat into thin slices - 3 inches

Combine the cornstarch, garlic powder, and water.  Add the beef and coat it well

In 1-2 tablespoons of Olive oil, cook the meat..  We like it medium rare so I just cooked it for several minutes and then took it out.  Put in a bowl and cover to keep warm

------------------------------------------------------------

1 tab cornstarch - check the label
3 tab olive oil
4 cups broccoli florets
1 onion - chopped
1/3 cup - low salt soy sauce
3 tab brown sugar
1 tsp ground ginger (fresh if you like)

In 2 tablespoon of olive oil, stir fry the onion and broccoli for 5 minutes.

Put the meat back in the pan.

Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and 1/2 cup of water.  Add to the pan.

Cook and stir for several minutes until the sauce thickens up.

Serve over white rice

Great Indian Dish....

  • 6 Boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • One large Onion
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 2 garlic cloves or 2 tsp minced garlic in jar
  • 1 inch fresh ginger chopped or 3 tsp minced ginger in jar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon coriander - optional
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne red pepper (or more)
  • 1 can unsweetened coconut milk

Sauté onion in olive oil and add chicken chunks.  Cook until chicken is white… don’t brown

Add all of the spices and simmer on low for 15 minutes…

At this point, you can put in the refrigerator if you are making ahead…

Or…you can add the coconut milk to your desired thickness of sauce…   simmer for another 15 minutes

Add teaspoon of salt

Serve over rice

Did you know that 20% of prescription drugs and about 6% of over the counter medicines contain lactose, a milk ingredient?  I always ask for theingredient label when I pick up a prescription and double check the PDR online.  From our experience, I know that Advair contains lactose and I am sure than many other do as well.  Remember to check all labels!

Is lactose only in dairy products? - Source:  http://www.cvshealthresources.com/topic/topic13938

"Check your medicine cabinet, too. Lactose is the base for more than 20 percent of prescription drugs and about 6 percent of over-the-counter medicines, although these products usually only affect people with severe lactose intolerance. Some common drugs include many types of birth control pills and tablets for stomach acid and gas (some people take antacids as calcium supplements, and some, but not all, contain small amounts of lactose--check the label or ask your pharmacist). Ask your pharmacist whether medications you take regularly contain lactose."

True confessions.  I used to eat paste, as a child!  Loved the smell and still do!  Read all the labels on craft materials such as paste, glue, clay, and paints.  And you thought scissors were dangerous!

Toddlers eat everything!  Make sure to check the label on your dog food, cat food and any other animals that might be living in your house.

Robert was best friends with our Golden Retriever Mollie and there was nothing better than feeding the dog.  No need to visit the petting zoo, when you are living in one.  Robert would reach in Mollie's bowl and take a handful of food and feed her one nugget at a time.

Remember to check the label on pet food.  Even if your child doesn't eat it, he may handle it and then put his hands in his mouth...
